If you think opera is all about interminable 19th century arias, think again: There’s a whole world of exciting contemporary storylines and music to enjoy. Fresno Grand Opera is making that clear by bringing “Dead Man Walking,” based on the book by anti-capital-punishment-activist Sister Helen Prejean (and which was also made into a big Hollywood film starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn) to the Saroyan Theatre for one performance only, on Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.
